Chelsea Issue Statement In Support of Jose Mourinho

Chelsea FC have issued a statement backing manager Jose Mourinho.

In reference to Italy World Cup winning manager Marcello Lippi claiming Chelsea were interested in his services, the club stated flatly, "Nobody from Chelsea has spoken to Mr. Lippi or his representatives or indeed anyone regarding the manager's job."

Mourinho and Blues owner Roman Abramovich have reportedly fallen out, leading to speculation that the self-proclaimed "Special One" would not see out his contract that runs into 2010.

Mourinho has recently expressed his desire to stay with the club.
