Didier Drogba again made his case for best-striker-in-the-world status.

Subbed on for the final 18 minutes, the Ivory Coast international made the most of his limited playing time by firing a brilliant free kick past Newcastle keeper Shay Given.

The 1-0 win books Chelsea's place in the Carling Cup semifinals and gives Drogba 17 goals on the season in all competitions.
